Venice Film Festival red carpet moment highlights Gaza solidarity

VENICE, ITALY - SEP. 1: On Monday, Sep. 1, the 82nd Venice International Film Festival hosted a screening of The Smashing Machine, directed by Benny Safdie. Before the screening, a guest on the red carpet displayed a banner that read, "We are all an audience to genocide," in solidarity with Gaza. Actors Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, joined by former wrestler Mark Kerr, director Safdie, and producer David Koplan, walked the red carpet and posed for photographers. Israel has killed over 63,500 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
