NEW YORK, NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 8: (INTERVIEW) (Part 2 of 2) Kelsie Whitmore #3 of the Staten Island Ferryhawks speaks about the obstacles she has faced in her professional career on September 8, 2022 in Staten Island, New York. She is the first woman to record a hit in association with Major League Baseball. Whitmore was the first woman to appear in the starting lineup in an Atlantic League game. Her debut in the Atlantic League was a pinch runner on April 22, and became the first woman to start an Atlantic League game on May 1, playing as a left fielder.
