Therapy Dog Comforts Firefighters as Caldor Fire Rages Through Northern California

Firefighters at the Caldor Fire base camp in Placerville, California, were treated to some much-needed puppy love on August 24 as they took a break from battling the 126,182-acre wildfire. This video, taken by Heidi Carman, shows first-responder therapy dog Kerith enjoying affection from a team of firefighters. "They work 24-hour shifts for weeks to months at a time without seeing their families," Carman said. "A therapy dog helps them feel a sense of normal and piece of home," she added.
