Jenny Harries (Deputy Chief Medical Officer) statement SOT. - Number of people... testing positive for Covid 19 in the UK sustained decline but if we just look at the tail end...suggestion of...2,273 cases on rolling average interpretation needs careful consideration actively finding many cases we do know that in most cases...new variant...taking place How that translates into people turning up at hospital...hospital bed occupation... dropped right down very rapidly... 25th May 915 people in Hospital with Covid at tail end ... we can see the patients admitted to hospital has continued to decline or flatten off next slide... curve of the number of people who have died...tail end...most recent 7 day average is just eight deaths... predominantly older people who have not been vaccinated. variation in reporting of death vaccination rates...catching up very rapidly...those who've had a second dose...it is that second dose that is really important...go and get your jabs
