Death Toll In Southwest China's Pig-borne Disease Rises To 36

China has launched nationwide campaigns to inspect pig slaughtering and processing industry in the wake of the pig infection. The death toll in China's mysterious pig-borne disease continued to rise, with two more deaths from July 31 to August 1. The number of people killed by the streptococcus suis bacteria, which is usually spread among pigs, rose to 36 while the number of cases increased to 198, according to state media citing the Health Ministry's latest report. The first batch of 350,000 vaccines for Streptococcal Disease (Type 2) in Swine were airlifted to Sichuan Province on July 31 and will be injected to pigs. The Chinese characters mean "Cut in half".
