45 rpm record 'Louie Louie' by The Kingsmen

1963: A 45 rpm recording of the 1963 hit single 'Louie Louie' by The Kingsmen on the Wand record label. The Portland, Oregon, band recorded the song in April 1963 and it was first released on the small Jerden label in June of that year. It was released again on the Wand label in October 1963. The song was written Richard Berry in 1955. The Kingsmen's version was the subject of an FBI investigation into the record's supposed obscene lyrics, an investigation which ended with prosecution.
