Tensions Continue In Kashmir As Death Toll Mounts to 67

SRINAGAR, KASHMIR, INDIA - AUGUST 18: Kashmiri Muslims women chant anti Indian and pro Kashmir freedom slogans during an anti Indian protest, following violence that has left over 67 people dead and thousands injured on August 18, 2016 in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir, India. Residents claim a 30-year-old teacher Ahmad Moonga was allegedly beaten to death by Indian armed forces after a night raid on a village on Thursday. It is believed Ahmad Moonga along with dozens of Kashmiri Muslims were detained after the search operation by Indian government forces in Khrew village in south Kashmir's Pulwom district. Police, however have stated Moonga was killed in a pre-dawn clash between forces and protesters in Khrew. Kashmiri Muslims held a protest against the Indian rule in Kashmir and against the recent killings in kashmir near the United Nations Military Observer's Group In Indian and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) office. Another civilian was killed last night and many were injured by Indian government forces in Kashmiri. Indian authorities have sealed all the streets and roads leading to the office to impose strict curfew on the 40th day and to thwart anti Indian and pro Kashmir freedom protest marche, following a call given by pro Kashmir resistance leaders which aims to protest against the killing of innocents in the valley. Currently 67 died and over 6000 have been Injured during the fierce protests over the killing of a young rebel commander Burhan Wani. The violence in the area is the worse since 2010 and the protests have triggered a heavy crackdown by Indian government forces which include many strict curfews. (Photo by Yawar Nazir/Getty Images)
