Israelis gather before in the inauguration ceremony of the 'Chords Bridge' ('Gesher HaMeitarim' in Hebrew), designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, at the main entrance of Jerusalem on June 25, 2008. The cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge is to carry a light rail system over the busy Jaffa road at the entrance of Jerusalem. The S-shaped bridge is supported by 66 half-centimeter cables stemming from a single, 118-metre (390-foot) tall column.
