Former FBI Agent Charles McGonigal Attends Change Of Plea Hearing In Violations Of U.S. Sanctions Case

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - AUGUST 15: Former FBI agent Charles McGonigal arrives for a change of plea hearing at Manhattan Federal Court on August 15, 2023 in New York City. McGonigal is expected to change his plea to guilty after initially pleading not guilty. He was arrested on January 21 for allegedly violating and conspiring to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and other charges relating to money laundering. McGonigal is accused of taking payments from Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska to investigate other Russian oligarchs, and is also charged in a separate case in Washington, D.C. with concealing $225,000 he allegedly received from a former Albanian intelligence employee.
