Ferrara is a city in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. The town has a well-preserved historical centre with numerous palaces dating from the Renaissance when it hosted the court of the House of Este. The Monumental Cemetery of Certosa is one of the main historical and artistic monuments of the Renaissance and the largest architectural complex in the city. Born as a monastery in1461, the Certosa cemetery houses the graves of famous residents.
