I find I'm accepting myself for the first time, because I am acting the way I feel inside and not being critical of myself, or comparing myself to my sisters or female peers who have chosen a more standard lifestyle. In many ways, our lifestyle is very similar to that of the average male and female lovers' relationship. The difference being that we have reversed roles. A genetic female, I am the aggressor, the protector, the initiator. I find myself worrying that I will take advantage of her, to get my own way. It is a strange and wonderful adventure for us both as we learn to trust our feelings, and share our intimate needs with each other (Transformations 1989)."
