A police officer stands guard in front of the Palais des Festivals as a demonstration against the film "Outside Of The Law" by French-Algerian director Rachid Bouchareb, whom they accuse of distorting history, took place on the sidelines of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2010 in Cannes. Opening with a massacre of Algerian civilians by French soldiers in the town of Setif in 1945 -- a controversial historical event which some critics say has been misrepresented -- the film is one of very few cinematic treatments of the conflict.
