This picture probably taken on September 25, 1977 shows the president of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations Hanns-Martin Schleyer holding a paper reading "Since 20 days prisoner of the R.A.F." after he was taken hostage by members of the Red Army Faction (RAF). Schleyer was kidnapped on September 5, 1977 in Cologne and found dead in the trunk of a car on October 18, 1977 in Mulhouse, France. The kidnapping and murder of Schleyer by the RAF, directly linked with the hijacking of the "Landshut" Lufthansa airplane, is considered as culmination of the so-called German Autumn (Deutscher Herbst), a series of terrorist attacks in late 1977.
