Norman Mailer Greeting Reporters

(Original Caption) Portrait of the Author. New York: Author Norman Mailer, (left), takes a moment to talk to the press and others in New York May 6th while doing some political campaigning. Mailer was awarded a Pulitzer Prize May 5th for general non-fiction for his report of a four-day protest against the Vietnam War, The Armies of the Night. He shared that award with Dr. Rene Jules Dubos, honored for his study, So Human an Animal: How We Are Shaped by Surroundings and Events. Mailer announced that he would use his prize money as "the first contribution" to the campaign fund for his bid for the Democratic nomination for Mayor of New York City.
