Workers in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital get up as early to travel to work, knowing that if they leave it any later the traffic will be gridlocked. Even so, it can still take them up to four hours to get to work and they then have to leave mid-afternoon to make the long trip home. So, at least eight hours a day or 40 hours a week, all spent in traffic jams in a car or a bus because there's no other option.
