Members of the French army Women's auxiliary Army corps (AFAT) and Allied army female troops parade on the Champs Elysées Avenue on May 8, 1945 in Paris during the ceremony celebrating the end of the Second World War. The Women's auxiliary Army corps (AFAT) is an unit of the French forces, composed only of women and created on April 26th, 1944 during the liberation of France to group the women of the various French Women's volunteers corps from the Resistance, including the Rochambelles, ambulance drivers from the Rochambeau unit who was part of the 2nd Armored Division (2nd DB) of General Philippe Leclerc.
