Teammates Carrying Dizzy Dean from Field

(Original Caption) Jerome "Dizzy" Dean, droll pitching ace of the St. Louis Cardinals, was struck squarely on the head by a ball thrown by Rogell, Tiger shortstop, while Dean was going from first to second, in the fourth inning of the game between the Detroit Tigers and the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1934 World Series, at Sportsman's Park, St. Louis, October 6th. Although Dean was out cold for several minutes, and removed to a hospital, physicians said that he would suffer no permanent or serious injury, although the prospects of his pitching Sunday's game, are doubtful. Dean is shown being carried off the field by worried Cardinal players.
