(Original Caption) In town for a brief holiday, cigar-smoking Madame Duconge, known throughout continental cafe society as "Bricktop" gave a press conference at the Savoy Hotel tonight. Madame Duconge, born in West Virginia, was well known in the night club world of between-the-wars Paris where she ran her own club. She numbers among her friends personalities as diverse as the Duke of Windsor, Ernest Hemingway, and Gertrude Stein. "Bricktop" now runs a nightclub in Rome. At present it is being redecorated, which gave her the opportunity to fly to London.
