Washington, DC: Attorney General Robert Kennedy (left) and Supreme Court Justice Arthur Goldberg (right) were the principle speakers today at the annual meeting of the American Society of Newspaper Editors. Kennedy said the problem of civil rights "lately has come to all of us." He said it was important for persons throughout the country to realize that discrimination is not a sectional problem but one that is "going to have an effect on all our lives." Goldberg told the editors that freedom of the press and the writing privacy in crime and courtroom reporting can exist side by side. He said, "the press has a particularly acute responsibility in the area of crime reporting especially in the pre-trial phase."
