The Iron Bridge is a cast iron arch bridge that across the river Severn in Shropshire, England. The bridge opened in 1781 and was the first major bridge in the world to be made of cast iron. It is a symbol of the Industrial Revolution. In 1986 the bridge, the village of Ironbridge and the Ironbridge Gorge were added to the Unesco World heritage list.
