Luxor, West Bank, august 21st of 2023. The scene shows the view from inside a balloon just after taking off from the Luxor hot air balloon take off site, while on a balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings, which is a major adventure activity for visitors to Luxor. The picture was taken at sunrise, and shows ongoing excavation sites on the mountainside of the Valley of the Kings - a Unesco World Heritage Site, and which already has dozens of tombs and chambers excavated and open to the public, but many more still being found and excavated. The region was used for about 500 years as a burial ground to Pharaoh and nobles, and new finds are being uncovered regularly in the mountainside, together with ruins of buildings used for the construction of the tombs and chambers in the mountainside.
