The lagoon "The Tortoise" is one of several that make up the lagoon complex of the Cañada del Hoyo lagoons. It is a place located in the vicinity of the city of Cuenca. The decomposition of limestone leads to torcas or sinkholes that, in some cases, maintain a certain amount of water inside. This lagoon has the property that, occasionally, water becomes a blue color due to the action, apparently, of bacteria that act on water. The phenomenon disappears after a few days.
