LONDON, ENGLAND - APRIL 25: Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence and Princess Anne, Princess Royal attends the early morning ANZAC Day Dawn Service to start at Wellington Arch on April 25, 2015 in London, England. Today marks the 100th anniversary since the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli, there will be three commemorative ceremonies in London, a Dawn Service, a wreath laying ceremony at The Cenotaph and a service at Westminster Abbey. The Gallipoli land campaign, in which a combined Allied force of British, French, Australian, New Zealand and Indian troops sought to occupy the Gallipoli Peninsula and the strategic Dardanelles Strait during World War I, began on April 25, 1915 against Turkish forces of the Ottoman Empire. The Allies, unable to advance more than a few kilometers, withdrew after eight months.
