German President Joachim Gauck gives a speech at the Bundestag (lower house of parliament) to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust on January 27, 2015 in Berlin. Later in the day, several heads of state are expected at the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial site, where seventy years after the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, ageing survivors and dignitaries gather at the site synonymous with the Holocaust to honour victims and sound the alarm over a fresh wave of anti-Semitism.
