A foal next to a mare at a horse in Ceadir-Lunga in southern Moldova looks at horses on April 7, 2014. Gagauzia, a 1,800-square-kilometre territory in southern Moldova close to the Ukrainian border which is peopled by ethnic Turks, who converted to Orthodox Christianity in the 19th century and speak Russian among themselves with a passion for horses. All are from the Russian horse breed "Orlov" trotters, known for their strength and elegance. Comrat, the main city of Gagauzia, took his name from "kümür + at" meaning in Turkish "black horse" said the mayor of the city.
