Fireworks that are set off by Palestinian youth explode in...

BETHLEHEM, PALESTINE - 2014/07/25: Fireworks that are set off by Palestinian youth explode in the streets of Bethlehem. Friday was declared a "Day of Rage" by media stations and politicians alike in the West Bank. Huge demonstrations took place in every major West Bank city and surrounding villages, including in the city of Bethlehem. 10 Palestinians were killed on Friday in the West Bank alone, during protests against the war in Gaza. This came after a historic evening on Thursday, when thousands of Palestinians from the surrounding villages and refugee camps close to Ramallah, the seat of the Palestinian Authority, marched towards the military checkpoint, Qalandia checkpoint. This checkpoint separates Ramallah from Jerusalem. One Palestinian was shot dead that evening, while hundreds were injured by live-fire ammunition fired by Israeli soldiers. Thursday evening was the holiest night for Muslims, known as the "night of decree" or "night of power", a time when Muslims believe all prayers are answered. Many Muslims often go to Al-Aqsa mosque to spend the night in prayer. However, due to the Gaza war and rising tensions in the West Bank, many were barred from entering Eastern Jerusalem. This restriction and the on-going war on Gaza, which has claimed over 1000 Palestinian lives, motivated the thousand-man strong march from Ramallah to Jerusalem.
