Canadian International AutoShow 2015
TORONTO, ON- FEBRUARY 14: aul Gentile the Toronto-based artist behind Steinway & Sons miniature piano on display in the Auto Exotica area. At an exhibition of such grand proportions, one of the tiniest attractions may be the most impressive.
"It doesn't play as well as a full-size one," he says of the small golden instrument, "but it is functional and it is audible." Gentile has tuned the fully functional instrument too, though it is "kind of in its own range," he laughs.
The artist spent more than 16 years building the replica, which has been offered for sale at a seven-figure price point. The original 1903 piano was given as a gift by the Steinway & Sons family to U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt and stayed at the White House for seven presidencies until it was moved to the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. On display at the 2015 edition of the Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS). (David Cooper/Toronto Star via Getty Images)
