NREL has developed "dark solar" which will reduce the refelectivity of solar panels and boost their energy output.
GOLDEN, CO - MAY 20: Researchers at the National Renewable Energy Lab, NREL, has developed a process called "dark solar" that will cut the reflectivity of solar panels which will boost their energy output. A researcher on the project, Hao-Chih Yuan, holds small round disks of the dark silicon. The one on the right is before it goes through the chemical process and appears as shiny as a mirror. The sample on the left is after it is put through the process and it appears nearly black with more of a matte finish. (Photo By Kathryn Scott Osler/The Denver Post via Getty Images)
